On October 19th, 2022, rising young artists—Koizumi Nami and Taga Sakura—all the way from Japan, performed for KMMC students in a short concert. Performing as the duo ‘Sakura Namiki’, Nami played the violin exquisitely while Sakura performed both on the classic concert harp offered to her for the event by KMMC, and the knee or lap harp.

Their repertoire included soulful old Japanese music, Taga Sakura’s own composition for the harp and a stunning piece from the celebrated Tokyo-based Studio Ghibli. As budding performers/composers/educators who picked up the violin and the harp respectively at a very young, ‘Sakura Namiki’ was an inspiration for the students at KMMC.
