Mr. Jangannathan comes to KM to speak about and give a demonstration of his new software, din--a free software musical instrument for performing Indian classical music live. Constructed to like a piano with infinite microtones, din looks to be the future of rendering Indian classical music electronically.

August 19, 2009: Aruna Sairam
Renowned Carnatic vocalist, Aruna Sairam, comes to lecture KM students about the art of performing Carnatic vocal music. Aruna Sairam has a history of sold-out concerts in India and is internationally acclaimed, receiving honors and awards from India and the United States.

August 13, 2009: Raja Krishnamoorthy
Multi-faceted Raja Krishnamoorthy-- talented actor, director, and management consultant--kicked off this school year's guest lecturers series with an inspirational and interactive session that encouraged students to become multi-dimensional human beings.

March 10th: Vienna Chamber Orchestra
Members of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra rehearse Mozart’s “Nannerl Septet,” and give instrument demonstrations.

March 11th: Joe E. Rand
Sound editor on Hollywood films such as Titanic, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and Deep Impact, Joe E. Rand lectures about the role of the sound engineer in the film industry and gives advice to young musicians and composers who want to break into the industry.

January 8th, 2009: Palaakkad Sriram
Playback singer for Slumdog Millionnaire, Palaakkad Sriram, discusses the intricacies of Indian rhythmic theory.

January 30th: Naveen Ramalingma
Naveen Ramalingma discusses the psychology of music.

October 10th: Maarten Visser Jazz Trio: Maarten Visser, Keith Peters, and Jeorag George
Maarten Visser (saxophone), Keith Peters (bass), and Jeorag George (drums) give a demonstration workshop that includes a performance and discussion of the influence of Afro-American music on the development of jazz.

October 24th: Shantanu and Durba Bhattacharya
Indian Classical vocalist, Shantany Bhattacharya, and wife, Durba Bjattacharya give a lecture demonstration on the importance of the right taalim.

September 26th: Rajesh Vaidya
Veena-virtuoso, Rajeesh Vaidya, accompanied by N. Mohanaraman (mridangam), Chaandrajith (tabla), and N. Subramanian (ghatam), performs a concert of both Indian Classical as well as Western pop music.

Dr. L. Subramaniam
Renowned Carnatic violinist, Dr. L. Subramaniam, celebrated for his virtuosic performances and Western classical fusion compositions, discusses fundamental theory behind the composition of ragas and talas.
